"Places, Faces, & Social Graces: Tips and Techniques for Researching New York Newspapers" & "Overview of Historic Mt. Calvary Cemetery"

Program Schedule: 10:00 – 11:30 a.m. – Welcome and Presentations

Cost: Free and open to the public.

Location: Mt. Calvary Cemetery's Pine Lawn Chapel, 2951 Harlem Road, Cheektowaga, NY 14225 (near the Harlem Road/Genesee Street intersection).

Join us as we host local genealogical and historical researcher Jennifer Liber Raines as she discusses the possibilities found in New York State newspapers. She will provide an overview of targeted newspaper resources available both online and in repositories. Additionally, she will detail strategies for structuring searches, logging research, and naming files.

During the second part of the program, cemetery staff will provide a brief overview of Mt. Calvary Cemetery and its history. With roots dating back to 1859, the property is comprised of several burial sites including its namesake, Mt. Calvary Cemetery, United German and French Cemetery, Buffalo Cemetery, and Ridge Lawn Cemetery.
