Journal Queries
Please refer to page 45 in the June 2002 issue of the JOURNAL for the standard abbreviations used in these queries.
Queries are printed on a space-available basis and occasionally some may be held over for the next issue due to lack of space.
The same query may be submitted only once a year. Queries will not be accepted from non-members. Queries may relate to any family, any time and any place. For maximum effectiveness, all queries MUST include a place and a date or time span, even if only approximate. Members are responsible for including monies owed for queries.
- Members are allowed 50 free words per issue excluding name, address, and membership number. Additional words are $.05 each, with payment to be sent when the query is submitted. Count each word and abbreviation. Dates: e.g. 18 Dec 1856 count as three words. Name, address, and membership number are free and must be included.
- Please Capitalize all surnames. No not capitalize given names and DO NOT abbreviate words as the Queries Editor will do all the abbreviations. We welcome queries sent by e-mail. Be sure ALL surnames are indicated clearly.
- Queries must be typed or printed for clarification, indicating surnames.
- All queries must include a date and a place if only approximate.
- Proof read your query carefully. We are not responsible for errors of judgement interpreting queries.
- The deadline is two months prior to the JOURNAL date, Example: 1 Jan for March issue, 1 Apr for June issue, 1 July for Sept issue, & 1 Oct for Dec issue.
- Mail queries and INCLUDE money for extra words to the Queries Editor.
Any query that does not meet the above requirements will not be printed. If you have questions regarding your submitted query, please include a SASE.
